Even though accessible places for everyone especially the physically challenged seems like a dream in Turkey, we have to start dreaming and then turn that dream into reality. There are 8.5 million physically challenged in Turkey and much have been said about the reasons why this segment of the population is not integrated in social life. Two of the most repeated reasons are: 1)Social stigma 2)Architectural obstacles The solution for architectural obstacles is not an issue that can be handled from one hand and it requires the participation of local governments, architects, physically challenged, physiotherapists, endustrial design engineers, city planners and lawmakers. The issue of accessibility will be discussed by the physically challenged and professionals such as arhcitects, interior designers and physiothrepists and the panel will be moderated by architect Özlem Belir who serves as a member of the Science Committee of Foundation for the Physically Challenged.
