With the support of BUILDIST, Arkitera Architecture Center presents 2010’s 4th Young Architect Award. Firstly given in 2004 in Turkey, the award is being organized in many countries in the world. It aims to promote emerging young architects and their works and thus create a better place for them in the architectural production environment.
The 4th Young Architect Award was announced on January 8th, 2010 with the same goal: to choose Turkey’s emerging young architects and their works. Consisting of Semra Aydınlı, Alişan Çırakoğlu, Hüseyin Kahvecioğlu, Erdal Sorgucu and Hüseyin Yanar, the Jury will meet in the week of May, 31st and decide the winner. The first “Young Architect Award” was given on October 4th, 2004 at Darphane-i Amire, as a part of the Architecture Festival. Rewarding only architects under 40, the first award was shared by five architects: Boğaçhan Dündaralp, a freelance architect; office partners Kerem Erginoğlu-Hasan Çalışlar and Hilmi Güner-Hüseyin Bütüner. In 2006, the award ceremony was held in the library building of the METU Northern Cyprus Campus and the winners were Tülin Hadi and Cem İlhan, working as partners in their office TECE Mimarlık.
